Which is the better ps3?

80GB 4usb ps3(teh original fat one)

ps3 slim 250GB

i gots a deal from a friend,
Original 80GB 4USB ps3 + HDMI cables + GTA IV = around $400
gonna give him $385

or a new ps3 slim 250GB, but no game or HDMI cables.

help me decide, as i wish to be in this clan.

I would say save up your money and buy up a new one of your choice. but it's your choice.

for around $435.97
i might actually go with that

Appearance doesn't really matter, how it runs is more important.

I also like the phat 1 better because u can download an alternate operating system, there is no off switch on the slim, and 80 gb's is a decent amount of memory + its upgrade-able so for $40 you could make that 80gb a 250gb and thats a great price with all that he's giving you

True but I'd rather have something that doesn't break down earlier than expected either.

In my experience, the Phat is a better Blu-Ray player (in terms of loading speed, etc) while the Slim's fan is annoyingly loud during games. The Linux on the Phat, while nice, is actually pretty impractical because it harnesses barely any of the PS3's power and as Linux distros go YDL kind of sucks (No apt-get, and horrible yum repositories for PPC). You'll have to compile everything that you want on there yourself, and while it works OK as a computer, when I use it some SNES ROMs lag.

...I don't know if that helped make your decision easier or not, but at least it provided you with some information.
